A fine and rare Kuba-Binji mask, Kuba-Binji; D.R. Congo

The powerful bell-shaped helmet mask based on the Kuba Bwoom model, the face with prominent brow, large raised bosses on the cheeks and powerful nose above jutting mouth. The mask incised with geometric patterns and abrus seeds in resin at the brow; original remains of the feathered ruff atop the head. A very fine and well carved example with good age and use. H. 19"
