226     Walter Gilman Page (1862-1934 Nantucket Mass.) oil on canvas portrait of a woman in a hat signed lower left. Gold leaf frame marked "Page", probably original. 19.75" by 23.5" sight. Small repair near mouth. Late 19th century or early 20th.

227     Marshall Johnson (1846-1927 Boston) watercolor on paper of a sailing ship in the open sea with 3 other ships in the background. Signed lower right. 23" by 17" sight, framed and matted.

228     Sawbuck tavern size table with a scrubbed top set on a crossed base at either end connected by two boards forming a storage area. Old red wash on base and underside of the top. 24" by 39" wide by 25" tall, late 18th century. Originally from an estate near Epsom, N.H.

229     Bert Poole (1853-?, Milton, Mass) oil on canvas of an old mill signed lower right with exhibition label on the reverse of the Boston Art Club. Titled "Abandoned Mill". 24" by 29.5" sight in a large gold painted frame.

230     Dublin, N.H. Stone watering trough (and later a planter) recently removed from the original 19th century farmhouse where it was used. In as found condition, 42" long by 19" tall by 19" wide. 18th/19th century.

231     Pair of cast iron urns with bulbous body and raised decoration set on square bases with tin liners. 19" tall, probably 19th century French.

232     Lilla Cabot Perry (1848-1933 Boston and Hancock, N.H.) oil on canvas portrait of Edith Grew in a blue dress with a white collar and a dark blue bow. Edith was a family member (1905-1924). Signed upper left "Lilla Cabot Perry". 17" by 21" sight in apparently the original gilt frame.

233     Cherry tall case clock with a scrolled broken arch crest, carved lattice form fret work, tombstone shaped painted iron dial, eight day brass calendar works, fluted quarter columns at the waist and line inlay at the waist, door and base all resting on a molded stepped base. 94" tall. Probably Connecticut River Valley, circa 1795.

234     Carved Empire wall clock with original label "Boardman & Wells, Bristol Connecticut". Pineapple carved crest and leaf carved half columns set on carved paw front feet, painted wooden dial and a mirror replacing the lower tablet. 35" tall, circa 1830.

235     Hepplewhite paneled front chest of 4 drawers with inlaid cherry and maple swell front with wavy birch paneled drawer fronts and a central flame birch panel outlined with mahogany banding on each drawer supported by 4 shaped French feet. 40" case width by 39" tall by 19" deep, New Hampshire circa 1805.

236     Bordman and Wells Empire Wall clock with makers name stenciled on the crest and paper label on the interior backboard. Black painted half columns flanking the painted wooden dial and mirrored lower tablet, old finish, 30.5" tall, 19th century.

237     William Preston Phelps (1848-1923, Chesham, N.H.) oil on canvas landscape of Mount Monadnock depicting a sunrise on a winter morning with snowy fields in the foreground. Signed Lower left "W P Phelps", 12" by 17" sight. Framed. From a Massachusetts private collection.

238     Double steeple mantle clock with original label of "Terry and Andrew, Bristol, Connecticut". Alarm, time, and strike, 8 day movement. Central glass panel is probably replaced, chipping to dial, 25.25" tall

239     Dunlap School Sheraton carved and inlaid cherry and maple bowed front card table with a swag inlaid top leaf edge over a conforming string inlaid case flanked by incised panels with diamond inlay containing a foliate design above turned and reeded legs with an urn form upper section ending in turned feet with rare patterned inlaid cuff detail, circa 1810, New Hampshire.

240     David Dutton wooden works Empire wall clock with a scrolled crest over a painted wooden face flanked by tapered mahogany pilasters over a reverse painted lower tablet. Original label inside, 33.5" tall, Mount Vernon, New Hampshire, circa 1835.

241     Mahogany gallery clock signed on the dial "Wehrle, Bros., 39 Lisson Grove, London" with a round brass and glass encased painted iron dial and brass movement surrounded by a wooden wall mounted case. 19th century, English.

242     William Aiken Walker (1838-1921 Charleston, SC) oil on artists board of a Southern African American Homestead; 3 adults and 4 children outside in front of a wooden house, wash on the line, chickens etc… signed lower left "WA Walker", framed, 6" by 12" sight. From a Vermont estate.

245     Red painted maple 4 drawer chest with a molded edge top above a case containing graduated drawers set on a shaped molded bracket base, inlaid escutcheons, replaced brass, 37.5" wide, circa 1800 New England.

246     Satsuma vase with finely executed gold decoration with 4 panels decorated with a landscape of mountains with water in the background and polychrome people congregated on a beach in the foreground and decorated with shapes and dragons around the neck. The base is plat formed. 15.5" tall. 19th century Japanese.

251     Sylvester Phelps Hodgson (1830-1906, Boston Massachusetts summered in White Mountains, A White Mountain School Painter) oil on canvas landscape of "Mount Washington as viewed from Thorn Mountain Road, Jackson, N.H." signed lower left "S.P. Hodgson", 33.5" by 23.5" sight, relined, new frame.

252     Miniature 5 piece Garniture set, blue and white with panels of an oriental lady alternating with panels of flowers. 3 covered jars (6" tall) and 2 flaring form vases (4.25" tall) marked "E" on the bottom. Bird finials have been broken off and glued, probably 18th 19th century, Delft or Faience, Continental.

253     Miniature tea set in the butterfly and peony pattern. Includes six cups & saucers, a tea pot with twisted handle, a covered sugar and a helmet form creamer. Minor chips, 19th century, Chinese.

254     Laura Coombs Hills (ANA, 1859-1952, Newburyport, MA) "White Lillies" pastel still life signed lower right "Laura Hills". 23.5" by 27.5" sight, under glass. Provenance Mrs. Nathaniel Boudich Potter descended through the family to present owner.

255     Hepplewhite tapered leg stand with a shaped top over 4 tapered legs. Mahogany with a dark varnish finish, New England, circa 1800.

256     3 piece Bisque Strawberry pattern tea set in the helmet form. Includes teapot, covered sugar and creamer, "Turner", 19th century England.

257     2 very similar Prattware handled drinking vessels in Bacchus figural form. One has a blue cast to the glaze, the other has a creamier cast. Both 5" tall and hand painted, 18th century, English.

258     Frank Henry Shapleigh (1842-1906, Jackson, New Hampshire) oil on canvas painting of "Old Barn" Scituate, Mass by FH Shapleigh as noted on the back. Signed lower right "F H Shapleigh, 1897". Depicts a view of the harbor from a barn interior with animals in the barn, 9.5" by 15.5" sight, with probably the original gilded frame.

259     Frank Henry Shapleigh (a rare winter scene) oil on panel of a snowy farm scene with a house and distant mountains signed lower right "F H Shapleigh" and on the back "Winter View in West Lebanon ME, F H Shapleigh", framed, 7.25" by 12.5" sight.

260     Chippendale birch swell front 4 drawer chest with a square edge top over graduated drawers and a beaded case, raised on a shaped bracket feet, red washed finish, 41" wide by 34" high by 21" deep. 18th/19th century, New Hampshire.

260A   Chippendale mahogany side chair with a cupids bow shaped crest, a half moon design at the center, flaring carved ears above shaped beaded styles, a carved owl shaped splat and an upholstered slip seat set in a molded seat frame supported in the front by cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees shaped legs ending in ball and claw feet with backward swept tallons, probably 18th century Massachusetts.

261     Chinese export punch bowl with blue foliate borders and two domestic scenes of women and a boy, probably early 19th century Chinese.

262     Apple form tea caddy in a crusty old finish, 5" tall, original lock and escutcheon, 18th/19th century. England.

263     Pair of Paris porcelain vases in a round form with painted scenes of chickens in a landscape on all sides embellished with gold decoration, incised mark CT&S on the bottom of one, 19th century Continental.

264     Pair of Iron spit hook andirons with a flattened faceted ball top supported by a cross hatch decorated shaft, applied spit hooks both front and back, set on an arched base with flattened feet, iron dogs, 28" tall, 17th or 18th century European.

265     Red painted Maple chest on frame. 6 drawer tall chest with split top drawer set on a bandy leg frame with a center drop, Massachusetts circa 1770, 36" wide case by 58" tall, replaced Queen Anne brass.

266     Gilded mirror with a pierced and carved arched crest decorated with a basket of flowers flanked by carved foliate sides over a carved base, 18th/19th century French/Continental.

267     Roy Henry Brown (1879-1956, New York, NY) oil on canvas painting of Wilton Center, New Hampshire signed lower right "Roy Brown". Lined, 15.75" by 11.5" sight.

268     Regency Rosewood 2-tiered lazy Susan with a 12.5" carved dish top resting on a central turned shaft with rings as decoration over another carved dish top. 22" diameter top, set on a carved twisted shaft resting on a turned platform, 19th century, English.

269     Kashan Oriental rug with a red field and center medallion bordered by dark blue, overall design, 9' 8" by 14' 9", 20th century.

270     Chinese export platter with a drainer insert. Bluish white background bordered by a dark blue band with gold stars, initialed "S" script, from the James Sheafe (1755-1829) family of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The bulk of this collection of china is in the Moffatt Ladd House at Strawberry Banke, 18th/19th century.

271     Lot of Chinese export to include: covered vegetable with a shaped edge and a bluish white back ground bordered in dark blue with gold banding and scattered gold flowers, 11.5" wide and 5.5" wide oval platters and a 17.75" wide oval platter, all of the same pattern 18th/19th century.

272     Chinese export platter with a bluish white background and a purple hounds tooth pattern border and center, gold rim, 14.25" long.

273     Maple Hepplewhite red painted indented corner top candle stand supported by a cleat over an urn shaped shaft with turnings set on 3 delicately carved arched legs ending in spade feet. Probably early 19th century New Hampshire, split to top.

274     Chinese export blue and white platter with an off white background, a wide foliate border and flowers in the center, 15" wide, 18th century.

274A     Asahel Lynde Powers (1813-1843, Illinois) oil on canvas primitive portraits of Lucius and Mary Powers (father and daughter) signed on the back "Painted by A L Powers, 1839". 24.25" by 29.25" sight. Descended through the family to the consignor. Depicts a woman seated on an Empire sofa wearing a white dress and holding a floral bouquet with a pastoral scene in the window behind her, repair left of her forehead, both framed in older gold frames. Provenance will accompany purchase.

275     Queen Anne walnut and walnut veneer balloon seat chair with a bead and volute carved crest and yoke stiles with a vase form center splat above a horse shoe seat set on 2 front cabriole legs ending in trifid feet and 2 backward raked rear feet ending in pad feet. Circa 1750, probably Rhode Island.

276     Queen Anne round top drop-leaf table with straight legs ending in pad feet, dense wood (walnut or mahogany), 36" diameter by 28.5" high, circa 1750, England.

277     John Whorf (N.A., 1903-1959, Provincetown Mass) watercolor on paper of a French city street with a single figure, signature is faint on lower right, 14.5" by 21.5" sight.

278     Kaleidoscope with a composition cylinder and brass moving fittings set on a turned walnut stand, 14.25" tall, probably 19th century Bush of Providence, Rhode Island.

279     Whale Ivory and whale bone cane with a faceted top inset with ebony circles above an ebony banded neck ending in two baleen bands supported by the bone shaft ending in what appears to be a baleen inlaid tip. 29" tall, probably sailor made, 19th century American.

280     3 Ivory topped canes: 1 with a turned top with colored lines over a mahogany shaft inset with baleen diamonds at the top (2 diamonds are missing), 35.5" tall.

281     R J Cavaliere (20th century, New York, NY) oil on canvas illustration of a couple speaking with a man in the yard of a house, signed lower left and dated "'24", publishing directions on the back, framed, 31.3" by 37.5" sight.

282     Sheraton carved mahogany Canterbury with 4 sections and a central handled divider, rectangular slats and turned corner posts set on turned legs ending in brass cup casters. 19.5" wide by 14" deep by 19" high.

283     Barton Matteson oil on canvas illustration of a woman and a man in front of a small house with the prairie in the background, signed lower left, 26.5" by 35.5" sight framed, lined.

284     Barometer with 1/2 column form with a shaped crest over a square paper face marked "The Standard", "Manufactured by E. C. Spooner, Boston". The round applied reservoir cover has black paint alternating with the wood and the glass tube and mercury are intact, 43" tall 19th century.

285     A clear glass parade baton with red, white and blue twisted lines in the shaft and ball top (50" tall) together with a clear glass cane with a crook handle and twisted red, white and blue lines (40.5" tall).

286     Chippendale mahogany candle stand with a round dish top set on an urn form turned shaft supported by 3 arched cabriole legs ending in pad feet, circa 1780, New England.

287     A 3 piece gilded garniture set on marble bases: the end pieces have pressed glass vase inserts and show a man and woman seated together (18" tall), the center piece has double candle arms and a center candle socket with prisms hanging from all three sections over a scene of a woman feeding a goat (16.5" tall), 19th century.

288     Figured Mahogany swell front chest with 2 short drawers over 2 graduated long drawers, highly figured mahogany veneered drawer fronts and set on flared French feet with swelled apron. Replaced brass, early 19th century, England.

289     Pair of watercolor portraits on Ivory of a man and a woman. Pencil inscription on the back is illegible. Both are 4.75" by 5.5" including the frames and probably19th century, English.

290     Sacro Fratelli (19th century, Palermo, Italy) water color on ivory described on the back "Gustaivs Tuckerman(Jr), born England 1824, died NY 1897, painted in 1847". Framed in a Gutta-percha frame inlaid with mother of pearl.

291     Pair of watercolor on Ivory miniature portraits of a sea captain and his wife from Cape Cod. Some history is available, small brass frames, probably 19th century, American.

292     William Louis Sonntag (N.A., 1822-1900, New York) oil on artist's board of a pond with sandy banks and mountains in the background illuminated by a sunset. Labeled on the back from Vose Galleries, Boston and titled "Sunset, Presidential Range Near Pinkham Notch". 12" by 15.75" sight in a newer gold frame.

293     Silver and gilt bronze center piece/taza with a brass deep plate and a gilded medallion of classical figures in the center. The outside surface has panels of animal scenes and the under side is embellished with rush leaves and cattails, all set on a foliate shaft ending in a square base.

294     Boston mahogany and mahogany veneer pier table with a black with gold veined marble top over a shaped apron supported by front full columns and rear half columns flanking a mirror and connected by a shaped mid shelf set on 4 carved fluted ball feet with foliate carved caps, mid 19th century.

295     Pair of Hepplewhite Mahogany side chairs with molded shield backs and 3 foliate carved splats (the center having an urn) above over upholstered shaped seats set on 2 tapering front legs ending in spades and 2 outward raking back legs, 18th century, England.

296     Constant Mayer (A.N.A. 1832-1911, New York, NY) oil on canvas of a school room scene with a teacher behind his desk instructing the class seated on benches with a student seated on the floor in front of the desk wearing what appears to be a dunce cap. Signed lower left "Constant Mayer, 1871". 31.5" by 23.5" sight, set in a gilded frame which appears to be original.

296A     Mahogany and Mahogany veneer server with a molded edge ovolou front corner top over a case with 2 split drawers and a single long drawer flanked by three quarter round columns with carved rings set on shaped legs connected with a mid shelf and ending in 4 turned feet, the front two being brass, 4 gilded brass knobs on the drawers are replaced. 39.5" wide by 36" tall by 17.5" deep, circa 1820, New York.

296B     Sheraton mahogany and mahogany veneer wash stand with a fold open top revealing a flat surface over a cupboard door with a single drawer beneath set on 4 turned and carved twisted legs resting on raised feet, old finish, circa 1920, New York.

301     Henry Webster Rice (1853-1934, Watertown Massachusetts) watercolor of "Mount Monadnock, New Hampshire" signed lower right "Henry W. Rice". 13.5" by 10.5" sight, under glass, matted and framed.

302     Imari Pattern stoneware well and tree platter in orange/red, dark blue and gold floral motif on a white background, 20.25" long, marked Pekin Stone China on the back, 19th century, English.

303     Felix Francois Georges Philbert Ziem (1821-1911, French) oil on canvas painting of Venetian Canal scene at sunset with sailboats. Signed lower right and on the reverse "Ziem, 1902", provenance: Galeria DeArte Ipanema, Ipanema, Brazil. 36" by 26" sight, in ornate gilded and painted frame.

304     3 part silver plated plateau with 2 "D" ends and a center rectangular section a galleried edge over an engraved edge set on bracket feet, the center has inset mirrors, 52" long, 19th century English.

305     Hepplewhite style inlaid three part Banquet table with two demi-lune ends containing drawers and a center drop leaf section. Cross banded and string inlaid top and aprons, elaborate pictorial and bellflower inlays on the square tapering legs ending in inlaid cuffs, 50" wide by 122" long by 30" tall, drop leaves are 22" deep, 20th century American.

306     Robert Elmer Lougheed (1910-1981, Santa Fe, New Mexico) oil on panel titled "A Double Flush" of a setter pointing and 2 woodcock rising signed lower right "Lougheed". 21" by 17.5" sight, framed.

307     Multi color hooked rug in green and beige tones with a central design in red and pink with a diamond center. 40" wide by 24" mounted on a stretcher. 19th/20th century, American.

329     Important Japanese Brass, Ivory, gilded, tortoise shell, and lacquer shrine with an upper case containing a revolving bank of drawers and a door-ed section behind ivory doors. Set on a galleried base with sliding ivory doors raised on 4 bracket type feet, decorated on all 4 sides, 18" wide by 23" tall, probably early 20th century.

559     Set of six William Bateman solid silver egg cups with pedestal bases, flaring rims and gold washed bowls, 2.5" tall, 19th century English.

560     Georgian silver hall marked condiment holder with a shell decorated handled basket and a gold washed interior above a holder with six round spaces for condiment bottles or egg cups and six oval holders for spoons supported by shell topped legs ending in hairy paw feet supported by another ring embellished with shells and supported by paw feet with egg and dart decorated rims.

561     Pair of silver plated 2 armed candelabra with a center covered candle holder (15.5" tall marked England) and a pair of Gorham column form silver soldered 6.25" tall candle sticks.

562     12.5" diameter silver plated punchbowl and 12 footed punch cups in a dovetailed felt lined wooden box 19th/20th century, ladle probably replaced to set.

563     2 pieces of woodenware: a master salt in red paint (some cracks) and an ink sander with darker banding with poker for the holes.

567     Red-ware dark glaze handled jug together with a miniature pitcher and a handled vessel in lighter glaze.

573     Ovoid shaped grey stoneware handled jug with a simple blue flower incised "Webster & Son, Hartford". 15.5" tall with nicks to body and a chip on bottom. 19th century Connecticut.

574     Cherry highboy base with one long drawer over 2 square drawers, a central fan drawer and raised on well formed slender cabriole legs ending in pad feet, circa 1750 Connecticut.

575     4 pieces of wooden trellis (1 in the form of an arch) in old green over old blue paint, 84" wide by 99" together with 3 additional pieces. Circa 1900.
