62.      Brown Bess, British military flintlock musket, third model, .75 caliber. (Also known as the "India" model, because thousands were made for the East India Co.), 39" barrel. Possibly an American Revolutionary war piece because of the "goose neck" hammer. Marked Tower for Tower of London and "GR" (George Rex) with coat of arms on the lock plate. In excellent condition, a few wood chips missing, metal surfaces turned brown. Sling swivels missing, which is common for this gun. Manufacturing started about 1770.

63.     Whitney US contract 1812 military flintlock musket. Style #1, .69 caliber, manufactured between 1812 and 1824 by Eli Whitney for the US Government. Marked "N.Haven" on lock plate. Estimated production: 5000.  In very good condition, original 42" barrel was shortened by 2" to remove bayonet stud. Metal surfaces generally pitted. Chip out of wood in front of lock.
