16. Canton Deep Dish Platter On Stand, 19 ¾” x 16 cut corner platter, 2 ¼” deep, set in a custom made bamboo turned cross stretcher base, along with a 7 ¼” diameter soup dish, both 19th century Chinese export. Provenance: A Florida collection.

17. New England Mahogany Hepplewhite Secretary, top section with 2 blind banded doors set on a base with fold over writing surface and 3 banded drawers set on 4 tapered legs. Appears to have the original oval brass, old varnished finish, NH or Maine, ca. 1790-1800,41” wide x 48 ½” tall x 20 ½” deep, along with a “Gardner,” coat of arms and an 1855 Gardener passport. New Hampshire Pantry Cupboard, an unusual form with 2 opposing batten doors with a stepped grain storage area with lift lid and front batten door, 64 ¾” x 84 ½” x 23” depth of grain bin section, (which is made to be removed separately), over painted in 2 coats of white paint on all but the right side, the left side has a rolling pin towel holder, NH ca. 1840-70. Provenance: Taken from the kitchen of a New Ipswich, NH farm house.

301. Burton L. Spiller’s Parker VH Grade 20ga. Shotgun: Burton Spiller wrote Grouse Feathers in 1934 and followed it with More Grouse Feathers in 1938. Both of these important upland sporting classics were published by the famous Derrydale Press. To this day, Burton L. Spiller is referred to as the “poet laureate of the ruffed grouse.” This VH grade Parker 20 ga. shotgun was gifted to the famous outdoor writer H.G. “Tap” Tapply’s son, William G. Tapply, when he was a boy. Like his father, Bill Tapply, a contributing editor for Field & Stream, is also an accomplished sporting writer. Tapply’s story, “Burt’s Gun,” is a narrative of the heartwarming tale of the gift of the gun. “Burt’s Gun” has been published several times and is included in The Orvis Anthology: The C. F. Orvis Outdoor Writing Awards (1984 by Riverwood Press). Accompanying this Parker is a letter of authenticity written and signed by William G. Tapply certifying that this shotgun belonged to Burton L. Spiller and was handed down to Tapply. Included along with the gun and the letter is a signed copy of The Orvis Anthology containing the story “Burt’s Gun,” as well as the “Leg-O-Mutton” leather gun case that Mr. Spiller included with his gift to Tapply. Provenance: From the collection of William G. Tapply, sporting author & contributing editor to Field & Stream magazine.
