John Haley Bellamy (1836-1914) American, "Dont Give Up The Ship" Eagle Banner- finely carved with original paint 2 part banner, 26" long X 8" wide, appears to have been made C 1872-1900. Provenance- decended in the consignors family and comes with an authentification letter written by James A. Craig, noted Bellamy author (American Eagle: The Bold and Brash Life of John Haley Bellamy), lecturer and curator; two modern screws added to the back side to hold the banner pole in place and the left wing brace in place, wing cracks.
