Primitive American Sailing Ship Painting "John George", 19thc oil on canvas painting of an "Essex Style" schooner built on the North Shore, Mass., 20" x 30", newer gold molded frame, this ship was captained by Frances Stevens (1772-1823) of Marblehead from 1817 to 1822 and later by Phareis Shirley (1783-1855) also of Marblehead.
