Lot of Six Civil War Documents all Pertaining to Company "K", 12th Regiment of the US Colored Heavy Artillery, which was first organized in Tennessee from July 24th to August 14th, 1863, as the, "1st Alabama Infantry (African Descent)." Their designation was changed to "1st U.S. Colored Troops," and later to "12th U.S. Colored Infantry." Documents include a "Form No. 14," statement of damaged, lost or destroyed items charged on the master payrolls. Document describes the loss of items by 3 named men. Two men lost items due to "Carelessness," and the other man, "Thomas Seucab(?)," by "Desertion." Dated from the 4th quarter of 1864. Another interesting document is a "Form 2-(b)" an invoice of ordinance and ordinance stores turned over by a "Capt. F.A. Purdue," commanding officer of the ordinance Dept. to Lt. Colonel "W.S. Babcock," commanding officer of the "12th US Colored M. Party," at "Camp Nelson, KY on the 18th day of October, 1864. Contents include "130 Enfield Rifle Muskets and Bayonets Cal. 577," etc. All Civil War Items are from the collection of Richard Vitagliano of Concord, NH, collected over Forty Years.
