Civil War Period U.S. Army Model 1858, smooth side Canteen with its original brown gray wool covering. Folded and sewn canvas strap, stopper, and cork. Dented slightly on one side and on the rim of its spout, otherwise in very good to excellent condition. Comes with a 1/9th size tin-type of a young man. Note reads on verso, "Stewart R. Hall, Co. "C" 29th Regiment Maine Vol. INF. owner of box ...owner of Civil War Canteen." All Civil War Items are from the collection of Richard Vitagliano of Concord, NH, collected over Forty Years.
